BETWEEN STRANGERS
‘Between Strangers’ (2026) is a new subseries within my Moments of Being series. Small pencil drawings on found plywood capture brief encounters, moments that might otherwise have slipped by unnoticed. I draw them not to record what remains, but to remember what I almost forgot. Sometimes I think I draw or paint my Moments of being series to know what I think, but really, I draw so I don’t forget to see.
DE KLAPSTOEL
Since last February, I’ve been creating the (photographic) portraits for Het Parool in the series De Klapstoel. I had actually stopped photographing for a while, but I just couldn’t resist. It’s been wonderful to meet all these remarkable people who come in front of my lens, and a joy to keep up with the act of photographing itself. Every Saturday, you’ll find a full-page portrait in the paper, and I feel truly honored to do this. Of course, painting and my research projects still take up the largest part of my work, that will always remain my greatest priority :).
