So truly grateful that I was asked by daily newspaper Het Parool to make a series themed ‘Amsterdam’ and ‘summer’. I started making a weekly painting filled with memories of my own summers in Amsterdam. As from this Saturday they will be weekly published in Het Parool. My series ‘Maestro’ inspired by the life of Frieda Belinfante is taking shape. In this e-book you’ll find more background information about this interesting human being and the paintings I have been making so far. I am not trying to paint reality, it is just a translation of my imagination when I wander through her life.
So happy to announce my solo exhibition ‘MADAMADAM’ at Stadsmuseum Harderwijk from September 23 to January 9. During the corona period I exchanged my camera for the brush and made a series of paintings entitled ‘Never no’ about Caresse Crosby, the inventor of the bra and the series ‘As it goes’, inspired by my great-grandmother’s story.
