SUNDAY 7 AUGUST: CHANGING STATES IN THE STUDIO

On Sunday 7 August (12:00 – 17:00 hrs) the remaining works from my exhibition Changing States will return to my studio in Amsterdam. You are warmly invited to come by and view the series that day.

At 13:00 hrs I will give an artist talk about Changing States, a body of work inspired by the life of the Flemish interior designer Elli Kruithof (1926–2009).

TEA ROOMS & FASHION SHOWS (2025)

Elli Kruithof played a pioneering role in shaping the interior landscape of postwar Flanders. Often compared to Ray Eames, she worked as an interior architect, color specialist, graphic designer and painter before taking an unexpected turn in the 1960s, when she left her design career behind to study theology. She went on to teach and publish in that field, all while living a modest, independent life. Despite her groundbreaking contributions, her story gradually faded into obscurity.

With Changing States I revisit her multifaceted legacy and reflect on themes of visibility, identity and transformation — questions that feel just as relevant today.

You are warmly welcome to join, explore the works, and take part in this conversation.
