Description

NELLIE BLY (1864–1922) was an American journalist, writer, and pioneer of investigative reporting. She became famous for her undercover exposés, her advocacy for social reform, and her record-breaking journey around the world in 72 days.

At the age of 21, she travelled to Mexico with her mother as a correspondent for the Pittsburgh Dispatch. This painting reflects on this time of growth and development, on letting go and moving forward.  And on the courage to become who you want to be, against convention, because sometimes there is simply no other way.
