I recently started a new project ‘Nobody’s dollhouse’ inspired by the life of Nellie Bly. Born as Elizabeth Jane Cochran on May 5, 1864, in the small town of Cochran’s Mills, Pennsylvania. She stepped into journalism not by invitation but by confrontation. When a Pittsburgh newspaper claimed women were fit only for domestic roles, she wrote a rebuttal so fierce that the editors hired her and gave her a pen name: ‘Nellie Bly’, borrowed from a popular 1850 folk song.
