New project announcement: exploring the life of Elli Kruithof

I’m thrilled to announce a new project on Elli Kruithof, a pioneering mid-20th-century designer from Flanders. Though influential, her legacy has faded. This project explores her creative work, partnership with Raymond Goovaerts, and her later shift to theology. It will culminate in a solo exhibition at ( s o o n ) gallery in Antwerp in May 2025, where the artworks will be available for purchase.

At the base of an oak tree

At the base of an oak tree, a small seedling found refuge. The oak stood proud and robust, offering steadfast shelter and tranquility. Through changing seasons, the seedling thrived beneath the oak’s expansive canopy. Birds chorused melodies of delight, while the wind imparted tales of wisdom through rustling leaves. The oak’s fortitude and benevolence fostered the seedling, a testament to enduring strength and affection. This series of paintings is a tribute to my mother, who turns 80 next April.

Her study delved into the correlation between atmospheric moisture levels and the production of static electricity in the air. Sadly enough, despite its significance, her research was once again overlooked after a few years and eventually faded into obscurity.
